A History of The London Clinic
September 2007
This year we are proud to be celebrating our 75th
anniversary. As part of our anniversary celebrations, we are
pleased to be working with one of our former consultants, Dr Harvey
White FRCS, who has been commissioned to record the impressive
history of The London Clinic in a commemorative book.
Our history,
from our foundation in 1932 by a group of Harley Street doctors to
our 75th anniversary in 2007 is recounted in A History of The
London Clinic. This book explores the technological,
socioeconomic and cultural influences that have mapped and directed
our course of inspiring clinical excellence over the years.
The author, Harvey White, has spent over 30 years working at The
London Clinic as a consultant surgeon. He has undertaken
extensive research, interviewing members of the Clinic staff, both
past and present, reading reports and papers and consulting records
from the hospital's archives to cover every aspect of the changes
to The London Clinic during this period.
Coinciding with our 75th anniversary celebrations, this book is
illustrated with a wealth of photographs and narratives that
explain why we are consistently in the forefront of progressive
healthcare. The memories of patients, nursing staff, specialists
and administrators capture the character and ethos of our
truly unique institution.
This is a truly fascinating read for anyone interested in
medical history.
The book is available to order in hardback and paperback from
The Royal
Society of Medicine Press Limited.
