Press Release - King Edward VII’s Hospital And The London
Clinic Collaborate To Help Forces’ Patients
April 2007
King Edward VII’s Hospital Sister Agnes and The London Clinic
are working together to extend its 20% subsidy towards inpatient
and outpatient treatment for Service personnel.
The subsidy is available to all patients who are currently
serving or have previously served in the British Armed Forces,
regardless of rank and length of service, as well as their
spouses,
ex-spouses, widows and widowers – extending its availability to a
population of more than 13 million people. This new initiative is
an extension to the current subsidy already being offered by King
Edward VII’s Hospital Sister Agnes, and will ensure that any
procedures not being offered by the hospital can now be carried out
at The London Clinic under the same terms.
Last year alone subsidies offered by King Edward VII’s Hospital
Sister Agnes, administered through the Sister Agnes Benevolent
Fund, exceeded £300,000.
Clive Bath, Chief Executive, King Edward VII’s Hospital Sister
Agnes remarked that “Over the years we have shared a strong and
valued relationship with The London Clinic and are pleased that
this has now developed into a partnership that will provide our
patients from the British Armed Forces with the care they need from
the wide range of specialties offered by the two hospitals. Both
hospitals share the same standard for excellence in patient care
and from now on will offer the same level of subsidy for self
paying Service patients”.
Malcolm Miller, Chief Executive, The London Clinic, comments;
“We’re very excited by this new initiative. Both hospitals share
the same ethos in offering a high standard of patient care and
medical expertise and we’re pleased to be able to pass this on to
patients from the British Armed Forces at a discounted rate. It
cements a very successful partnership between the Clinic and King
Edward VII.”
Sally Campbell, King Edward VII’s Hospital Sister Agnes
Fundraising Manager commented, “thanks to the generosity of our
Friends (donors) and supporters, we continue to make a difference
to the lives of many individuals who would otherwise suffer with
pain and disability for extended periods of time.”
King Edward VII’s Hospital Sister Agnes enjoys the highest
reputation founded on the medical and surgical skills of
individually selected specialists. As well as its 61 en-suite
air-conditioned rooms, the hospital boasts a three-bedded Critical
Care Unit, three operating theatres, an extensive MRI/CT Scanning
Suite and a modern well-equipped Physiotherapy department with one
of only three private hydrotherapy pools in London.
The London Clinic is one of the UK’s most established
independent hospitals and has earned a long-standing international
reputation. The Clinic boasts 202 beds, 12 operating theatres, an
eight bed Critical Care Unit and specialises in a number of areas
including Endocrinology, Diabetes, Neurosurgery, Neurology and
Oncology. As a charity, the Clinic is able to continuously invest
in the latest medical technology, facilities and clinical and
nursing support. This allows the Clinic to undertake highly complex
procedures, tests and treatments, for example, the treatment of
brain tumours, spinal conditions and liver disorders.
