Patients set to benefit from new partnership

The London Clinic (TLC) and The New Victoria Medical Foundation
(NVMF) have teamed up to jointly fund the medical care of NHS
patients in need of treatment for conditions, which though not
life-threatening, are regarded as significantly impairing their
quality of life.
The partnership between the recently-created
charity and one of the UK’s leading independent hospitals has been
launched to provide patient-support for the primary treatment of a
non-chronic nature, for example:
* Hip and knee
replacements
* Cataract removal
* Hernia repair
The New Victoria Medical Foundation was
founded with funds generated from the sale of the New Victoria
Hospital in Surrey to a group of private investors in March 2007.
Key objectives include its commitment to help assist in the
‘provision of medical and surgical care and advice’ - whether it’s
funding a piece of medical research or providing private medical
treatment for those patients considered most in need, yet who’s
treatment is determined by often long NHS waiting lists.
TLC and NVMF are calling on their respective
consultants to recommend those uninsured patients who would best
benefit from the service. Their applications will then be reviewed
by a small, independent panel of medical professionals.
Malcolm Miller, Chief Executive at The London
Clinic, says: “We are delighted that the New Victoria Medical
Foundation has chosen to work together with The London Clinic to
help ensure the successful implementation of the scheme. Naturally
we will extend a warm welcome to those entrusted to our care and
undertake to provide the exemplary standard of care and facilities
offered to all our patients.”
Graham Ball, Chairman of the New Victoria
Medical Foundations, adds: “We are delighted to be able to extend
the provision of free medical treatment to patients in Central
London. The London Clinic was an obvious first choice, not only
because it is itself a charity, but because of its outstanding
facilities. “We, of course, continue to have strong links
with The New Victoria Hospital with whom we have a similar
arrangement enabling us to provide free treatment to qualifying
patients.”
