Innovation! See it in action ...
CyberKnife® Robotic Radiosurgery System
While The London Clinic already offer
sophisticated cancer screening techniques, chemotherapy, stem cell
transplants and other specialist haematology and oncology services,
we will be introducing the latest radiosurgical technology into our
new purpose built cancer centre. This includes three Linear
Accelerators (LINACs): the CyberKnife® Robotic Radiosurgery System
and the Varian Clinac® iX and Trilogy® Systems with RapidArc™.
The London Clinic is the first independent
hospital in the UK to invest in the revolutionary CyberKnife®.
This pioneering treatment has changed the face of cancer
treatment worldwide. To date, more than 80,000 patients have been
treated with the CyberKnife® and more than 155 systems are
installed worldwide.
CyberKnife®is an alternative to
surgery for many patients for the treatment of both cancerous and
non-cancerous tumours, including in the prostate, lung, brain,
spine, liver, pancreas and kidney. It provides a pain free,
non-surgical option for patients who have inoperable or surgically
complex tumours or patients who may be looking for an alternative
to surgery.
We are unique in that we will be offering
CyberKnife® treatment in any area of the body from head
to toe.
Our CyberKnife® will be housed in a
large, spacious and patient friendly room in our new cancer
centre across from the main hospital at 20 Devonshire Place
and is on schedule to open in December 2009.
