Child patients
The London Clinic treats children who are more than three years
of age. Please ensure that you bring your child's healthcare record
with you when they are admitted.

Confidentiality and security
Please be assured that all our data and medical records are
totally confidential. The London Clinic is set up to ensure the
privacy of the individual and to protect patients at all times. We
fully comply with data protection legislation and medical
confidentiality guidelines.

Diet
If you require a special diet please let us know on your
pre-admission form. Alternatively you can contact Room
Service on 020 7935 4444 ext 2000 to discuss your requirements.
We have a range of specialist menus to meet most
dietary requirements, including therapeutic diets and special
diets. We also have a tailored children's menu. Every day you
can choose from a range of dishes specific to your needs.
Our Food Services Managers can also assist you during your
stay. Depending on your specific requirements there could be
additional charges, which may mean you would need to consult your
insurance company or sponsor.

Electrical appliances
For safety reasons The London Clinic has a team of electricians
who will test personal electrical items (for example laptops and
hairdryers) before they are used in our rooms. The exception to
this rule is electric razors.

Fire and emergencies
In the extremely unlikely event of any emergency in the
hospital, you will not need to take any action. Our nursing staff
are fully trained to take care of all patients in an emergency.

Hairdresser and beautician
The London Clinic's beauty room offers you the opportunity to
use our beautician facilities and hairdresser during your stay.
Appointments can be arranged through the nurses on your floor.

Your room will be cleaned daily, and fresh towels will be
supplied regularly.

Infection control
It is recommended that visitors use the alcohol hand-rub when
entering and leaving a patient's room. If suffering from a
cold or flu, it is requested that visitors do not enter The London

Interpreter services can be provided by The London Clinic.

The London Clinic can provide a dry-cleaning and laundry service
for patients' clothing. The charges for this service are listed in

The London Clinic has a Macmillan Nurse who works with
inpatients. Appointments can be made through your nurse.

Letters and cards will automatically be delivered to your room.
Your nurse will arrange the posting of any letters you may wish to

The Terrace Coffee Shop, which can be found on
the fifth floor of The London Clinic, is open from 8.30am to
6.30pm on weekdays and provides a calm setting for patients and
visitors away from the hospital environment. Continental breakfast,
light lunches and afternoon teas, as well as a wide range of hot
and cold beverages are served.
Purchases at the Terrace Coffee Shop are payable at the time of
the visit.

Mobile phones
Patients and visitors must switch off mobile phones at
all times as they may interfere with hospital
medical equipment. See Telephone below.

Newspapers and magazines
Newspapers and magazines can be ordered through our Hotel
Services department on admission or during your stay. These will be
charged to your personal account.

Smoking
Patients and visitors are not permitted to smoke on The London
Clinic premises, this includes patient rooms. The burning of
incense is also prohibited on The London Clinic premises.

Special needs
The London Clinic can provide telephones for the deaf and/or
partially sighted, and earphones for the hard of hearing. A
selection of talking books is also available on request.

Secretarial services
The London Clinic can arrange faxing and photocopying for you,
if necessary, during your stay. There will be a charge for this
service depending on the volume. Please ask your nurse for further
details.

Telephone
Each patient room is equipped with a telephone. To help cover
expensive long-distance calls, we ask our overseas patients for a
deposit on arrival. Any credit will be returned when you settle
your account. The charges are available in patient rooms.

available to visitors under certain clinical circumstances. There
is a charge for this service, and the beds should be
requested prior to admission.

Visiting hours
Visitors are welcome to The London Clinic at most times.
However, rest is essential to the recuperation of all patients, so
we would ask visitors to avoid the hours between 2.00pm and 4.00pm.
Visitors will be requested to leave the nursing floor by
10.00pm.
