Contour Thread Lift

With the first signs of ageing, a brow lift or facelift may feel like too much too soon. The Contour Thread Lift is a minimally invasive procedure used for lifting the tissues of the brow, face and neck. Our surgeons are sensitive to achieving subtle aesthetic results in all facial surgery procedures.

Process

A thread lift will generally require local anaesthetic plus sedation and be done as a day case. Surgeons use one of two types of contour threads:

Free-floating barbed threads

Using a hollow needle, the surgeon will insert specially designed barbed surgical threads into the skin via tiny incisions around the facial area being treated. The needle is used to position the thread to the required position before being removed. The microscopic barbs on the threads then attach to the underside of the skin and secure it to the desired new position.

Suspension/smooth threads

These threads are inserted into the skin in the same way, the difference being that to produce the lifting effect, these threads must be attached to a fixed or stable point of the face.

Post-surgery

Recuperation will depend on the individual but recovery is generally quick and you will be able to return to work after a few days. Bruising and slight swelling usually subsides within a couple of days.

The effects of a contour thread lift generally last around five years.
