Below are the stories of three patients who have had Cyberknife® treatment.


Please note that all the patient case studies referenced are of patients living outside of the UK as the Cyberknife® Robotic Radiosurgery System is not yet available in the UK.

 

Sue, Ovarian Cancer that Spread Throughout the Body

Cyberknife story - SueA 68-year-old grandmother of three from Bethesda, Maryland, Sue describes herself as "kind of a jock." Her passion is golf and she loves running around in the backyard with her 8-year-old twin granddaughters and 6-year-old grandson.

 

But, in 2003, the discovery of a tumour in her abdomen – the result of metastasised ovarian cancer that she had been diagnosed with six years prior – threatened to drastically change the life she enjoyed.

Suzanne, Brain Tumour

 

Cyberknife story - SuzanneFor 34-year-old Suzanne, nothing is more important than being the best mother possible to her young children. But in the fall of 2005, a discovery during a routine brain scan threatened to hinder the Phoenix, Arizona, mum’s ability to care for

her children.

"When you’re diagnosed with a brain tumour, you don’t hear much more after they say the words ‘brain tumour,’" said Donald, a 71-year old from Mountain View, California. "I was shocked. I had no reason to believe there was anything that seriously wrong with me."
